gigs and jams have been great with Mexicans Diego and Guilerrmo on perc as well as awesome Dave on guitar and nia on extra vox…also Norbi on the Hang and Sax…full line up+

got some great recordings but dont have anyway to get them online yet…but they are there and will go up eventually!

still waiting for the album to arrive and living the life here in Goa…

good morning Goa

its 10am, in Goa that’s almost considered Pre-dawn. The Taxis outside are tooting their horns. a multitude of languages resonate through the internet cafe.

Another Market day today and after almost a week of Jams and gigs I had a full day of absolutely bubkis…and it was very nice…starting to get into the rhythm of India but finding the technological failings all too obvious – internet and mobile coverage are absolute rubbish and musos could not get a hold of me bla bla…Vodafone…national network alek…

The gigs were great fun and the only reason I have not uploaded music from the recordings of the gigs that we have is that I left my PC power lead in Zanzibar….bullocks! so its all on hold for abit…

On Sunday, Dvir a great Israeli devotional singer from D1 project and the strings came up and jammed with me… &

On Monday night at Lokies we had these 2 Mexican percussion players come up and play which was great…

nice to try new things and looking forward to more!

all the best from Goa

Upgrade

oh the mystery that is the on-flight complimentary upgrade…

this time we made our voices heard…”on my honeymoon…(pause for effect) I can’t sit next to my wife?” (look slightly in pain)

“surely this is the one time we should be able to sit together”…

Oh…sipping champers on the fully reclining bed…the choice of starters and deserts…the wine list and sparkling water…the luxury…nice…

London is frozen! but Sushi with good friends with great news (babies left right and centre)…

anywho…here are some zanzibar pics:-

Electric Zanzibar

When we arrived in Zanz we wanted to do a little honeymoony bit…you know nice hotel romantic beach etc…we checked into our hotel to findout that there will be no electricity in the night. after sweating it out for a night I decided I can pay 10% of the price and get the same so off we went.. after mocing into Bru’s even that was negated and Bru and Ursula treated us to 4 dives on them!!! how awesome was that?! the Octopuse’s Garden in Zanz is truely beautiful with huge visibility and large corals!

After the 2 dives on NYE we giged in our makeshift, 1 rehearsal band at the sea-bar and rocked the joint…tho admitadly I was knackered from the dives…who would have thought diving is in fact tiring…

so we are back in Nairobi and leave africa for the london freeze tonight. what a time!

all my love

A

Zanzibar and magical Nungwi

it all started with overhearing something at the bar.  It was just after watching my team conclude yet another tense and disappointing draw. Chrissy went out to gaze at the turquoise ocean when she said she over-heard some Hebrew.  A lovely bunch of diving instructors. We got wasted and were lead to ‘Bru’s House’ for a jam.

we jamed for hours,  I was fueled by a long hiatus from giging for me and Bru kept on feeding me Vodka and Whiskey out of the bottle…whilst Orsula (his Dive centre manager) rolled some no tobacco ones…

it went down real well with the friends and familia that were there. They asked me to play a gig with them the next evening…actually the told me…

The gig at Mario’s water front bar went down a storm…Chrissy shone and we played with great drummer Jozef on drums, Voitek on bass, Bru and Cam played extra guitar and Zanzibarian Cash did additional vocals and taught me loads of Raggae .

Rafa got so wasted he chundered over the ledge into the ocean 5 meters below, Ohad played the Jaws Arp and overall xmas cheer was truely high.

my favourite jam was when we molded ’sounds of silence’ with ‘revolution’ by T.Chapman and ‘the air at night’ by phill colins and then also ‘Sweet Dreams’ by Euritmics and ‘Living on a prayer’ in one SONG!

www.facebook.com/musicboyzszanibar/ – Ursula should upload some pics in a few days.

we concluded festivities in the early hours of the morning. Bru kindly invited Chrissy and I out of the guest house and into his own…i’m on his floor right now. Bru owns one of the diving centres here and is taking us diving for free cause he was so chuffed with us…yei.

the house is like a studio with everything set up and the music and backgammon flow like wine…& did i even mention the beach?!

good days in Zanzibar

small stonetown note

Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam reminded me of older (& quieter) Tel-Aviv architecture & was by far the nicer of the East African big-wig cities.

Zanzibar so far is over priced but priceless.

We now head for the beaches.

I’m waiting and making notes in the stonetown market whilst locals pile onto the ‘durkah-durkahs’…oh sorry ‘dala-dalas’ that will take us up north. They occasionally stop their bustle to peek at my notes. Around me are man drawn carriages laden with white sacks of potatoes, sugar, yams & maize flower; sizeable Woman in full burkahs with hennas and high pitched voices. Smells of freshly caught bait-fish drying in the simmering sunshine mixing with the smell of ground spices. The noises of choking engines & revving trucks…

TRAVEL

merry xmas
